Born in Bangalore, 2019

Two Friends, One Jeep, and a Map Full of Dust

It started in 2019 when we — Rohan and Vikram — ditched our Koramangala desks for a long weekend in Nandi Hills. The farmhouse we found had no Wi-Fi, a bonfire that smelled like eucalyptus, and a sky so clear it felt fake. We came back Monday wondering why something that good was so hard to discover.

So we spent six months driving every backroad within 100 kilometers of Bangalore — from mango orchards in Kanakapura to coffee estates near Chikkaballapur. We met farmers with spare cottages, families with ancestral villas, and hosts who simply wanted to share their patch of quiet. By 2020, Hidden Trails had 12 hand-picked properties. Today we have over 340, each visited, photographed, and vetted by our team. Same rusty jeep. Higher standards.

Our story

The city will still be there on Monday

Hidden Trails started in 2021 with a simple frustration: finding a genuine farmhouse near Bangalore meant wading through broken WhatsApp links, blurry photos, and 'luxury villas' that turned out to be concrete boxes with a plastic pool. We knew the countryside had better stories to tell.

So we drove every backroad from Nandi Hills to Kanakapura, knocking on doors and drinking countless cups of filter coffee. Today we partner with over 120 local hosts—farmers, teachers, and families who open their homes with real warmth. We visit every property personally, check the mattress firmness, and make sure the bonfire wood is dry. If we wouldn't spend our own weekend there, it doesn't make the list.

We believe a two-hour drive should feel like a world away. Whether you're booking a pet-friendly cottage in Chikkaballapur or a pool retreat for twelve off Hosur Road, our job is to handle the details so you can do absolutely nothing. The best part? Your host probably makes better biryani than any restaurant in the city.

Priya Krishnan

Founder & Host Curator

After one too many chaotic Bangalore weekends, Priya spent 2021 driving down every dirt road from Nandi Hills to Kanakapura, knocking on doors and sleeping in spare rooms. Today she personally vets every farmhouse on the platform—if it hasn't passed her 40-point comfort check, it doesn't get listed. She still answers the support line on Sunday mornings.

Head of Guest Experience

Rohan is the reason your check-in code arrives before you do and your bonfire is lit by sunset. A former boutique-hotel concierge, he built our 24/7 support playbook from scratch and has personally mediated 200-plus late-night "how do I turn on the geyser" calls. He believes the best trips start with zero anxiety.

Ananya has woken up before dawn at 60-plus Hidden Trails properties to catch the exact moment mist rolls over a Kanakapura coffee estate. Her photos are why you can almost smell the woodsmoke through the screen. When she isn't shooting, she's scouting the next forgotten villa tucked behind a Chikkaballapur mango grove.

Rooted in Karnataka's Countryside

Your Escape Keeps the Countryside Alive

Since 2021, Hidden Trails has pumped over ₹4.2 crore directly into farming households across Nandi Hills, Kanakapura Road, and Hosur. When you book a pool villa or pet-friendly farmhouse here, 80% of every rupee goes straight to the host—and most guests head home with bags of fresh avocados, heirloom tomatoes, and farm cheese from the neighbor's dairy.

We don't parachute into villages; we grow with them. Our hosts hire local cooks who guard secret family biryani recipes, and caretakers who grew up hiking these very trails. That partnership has created over 120 year-round jobs in rural Bangalore, keeping the land and its people thriving long after you head back to the city.
